These notes taken while getting the FT3DR to work for sending text messages:1. Sending a Message
- Main screen: press the FMW button to open the function menu
- Open message list by pressing the M.LIST button
- Press the More button in the bottom right of the screen
- Enter Message Edit screen by pressing MSG EDIT
- Press the More button in the bottom right of the screen
- Enter the callsign by pressing EDIT CS
Using the on-screen letters enter the callsign SMSGTE Press the BACK button to return to the message screen If there is already some message text there, you can clear it: - Press the More button (six squares shown on bottom tight of the display).
- Press CLR ALL
- Press the EDIT TXT button to enter the message
As the beginning of the message, enter an @ symbol followed by the destination number and one space Enter the message text then press BACK when you’re done. - Press M-TX to transmit the message
2. Receiving a Message
When a message is received from SMSGTE, it can be viewed from the message list. To view the message, use the following steps:
- From the main screen, press the FMW button to open the function menu
- Open the message list by pressing the M.LIST button
- Use the selection knob to scroll through the messages
Select the message to read by pressing DISP If you wish to reply to the message, press REPLY
